On Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi the main deity of worship is the ‘Heramba Maha Ganpati’. This is a very uncommon form of Lord Ganesha and is seen with five faces and ten hands. One hand depicts the boon-giving posture; another is shown in the blessings posture while the remaining eight hands hold a rudraksha, rope, goad, modak, apple, mala, ax, and a tuck. Heramba Ganpati is one of the 32 forms of Ganesha as stated in Hindu mythology and is depicted riding a lion.
